Wednesday and Thursday I did 3 miles each day walking 2 and running 1. Friday was a rest day, and today I rocked it. I walked a 17 min 40 second mile and then ran a 12 min 30 second mile!!! Yes I thought I was going to kill over and I am sure I sounded like I was having an asthma attack when I was done...but I did it. Then I walked two more miles in 40 minutes. I hope to better these times even if only by 1 or 2 seconds tomorrow.
I started the new weight watchers program on Tuesday and I really like it. I am doing my weigh-ins from home, but I am excited to see how much I lost when I weigh in Tuesday morning. Wednesday and Thursday were rough diet days for me, because I ended up not working and studying most of the day. I was sooooo bored and all I wanted to do was eat. I McDonalds cheeseburger sounded so good, I almost had to tie myself down to the couch so I would not leave the house. It was so bad I was searching every fast food website trying to see what I could have that would totally not kill my diet. I had decided on a frosty!! Then instead I ended up buying the Weight Watchers Ice Cream Candy Bars and was suprised at how yummy they were...Then I wanted to eat the whole box, but I refrained and only had one. That is WILL POWER right there. lol The great thing about WW is you get 49 extra points each week on top of what you get each day. I used some of those 49 points to get me through those two days. It is getting a bit easier day by day. I get 37 points a day which seems like a lot but when talking about fast food a Fish and More from Long John Silvers is 27 points. A Chick-Filet sandwhich is 11 points and the fries are 10 points. So basically you have to eat smart and healthy. Almost all fruits and veggies are 0 points with the exception of potatoes and corn. So I have been eating a lot of cut up fruit and veggies, chicken breasts, and rice. I think this is the best way to diet...you can still have what you want and you don't have to eat stuff that taste like crud.
Yesterday I actually had the Fish and More dinner from LJS and only had breakfast. It worked out great and satisfied my fast food fix for the week. Pretty sure it only took me about 5 minutes to eat the whole thing, my cats were staring at me, they think I have issues for sure. LOL
Well I need to clean the house on this awesome 85 degree day. Ian is coming home tomorrow. Look for my post tomorrow mid afternoon!!
What Was I Thinking?!?!?
I stepped on the scale the other day and it said "OMG get off your crushing me" I knew it was time to exercise. I did not realize how much weight I have gained since college. I hope I can make my journey amusing for others to read and that blogging each day will keep me on the right track. I hope you will enjoy my blog!!!

I am finally back!!
I start this blog and then my life goes crazy for 3 weeks. It is probably a horrible excuse, but the good thing is I am trying to get back on track!
I started a program to prepare you for a marathon. I plan to do it run/walk until I can run the 26 miles without stopping. Today was the first day, and I was required to do 2 miles. I walked a 1/2 mile then ran for a mile and walked the last 1/2 mile. I hope to be running 2 miles again by the end of the week. I just need to work my way back to where I was when I stopped working out.
I hope everyone is having a good week. Look forward to posts everyday...I am not stopping again even if it means working out at 2am!

70 minutes 4 miles 30 min of running without stopping!!
No excuses for missing yesterday(but the sleep number bed was so comfy)!! So I will be paying for it today...I just got back from the gym and plan on going again this evening to play catch up! I hit a new goal today, 30 minutes of running without stopping!! I was so into my music I just never looked down to see what the time was, and just kept running. I hope that it will be an easy goal to reach from now on. I am running at a speed of 4.2, so I guess I will start to improve on that speed. I would like to run a 10 minute mile by the end of the month :-) I have figured out the first 10 minutes of running is the hardest. Once I make it pass the 10 minute mark I feel like I could run forever. I am pretty happy with my results thus far, and believe this blogging is helping(MAKING) me go to the gym, because I know people look forward to reading it.
Today was peaceful in the gym, since I had it all to myself. I am sure this evening will make for a different story. Well I am off to get ready for work, look for my post tonight!

Skate Shoes? Really ??
Well Ian came home Friday evening, so I skipped out on yesterday! We had a busy day, both had haircuts, Ian had to fax some stuff, We went shopping for my birthday present since Ian will not be able to be home for my birthday and Ian just wanted a hot meal!! I made him some stuffed shells and a nice salad. It was nice to see him, even if it was only a week. I also found out I had to head out for LA on Sunday so I had to pack for that and finish up Ian's dirty laundry.
So I arrived at LAX and made my way to the rental car shuttle. Picked up the rental car and headed to the hotel. Usual check in time at a hotel is 3pm, so you would think they would have more then one person working at the front desk!! WRONG...one guy 17 people in line! Well after patiently waiting 15 minutes and not moving, I pulled my cell phone out of my pocket and called the hotel. I said "I am standing in the hotel, waiting to check in and there are people in line, could you please take care of this problem" Well about 3 minutes later 4 people emerge from the back room and start checking people in!
I come to my room and drop my stuff off and change for the gym. I head to the gym and I am excited to see TVs on the treadmills. I turn on the TV, plug in my headphones and start the machine. Since I skipped yesterday I thought I would do 90 minutes to make up 1/2 of what I missed. I walked for about 45 minutes when I decided to start running. I figured I would go 20 minutes like I did on Friday and then at the end of this week bump it up to 3 or 4 minutes.
When I run I like to be in the zone with no distractions. Low and behold this college aged guy gets on the treadmill. I am not some marathon runner or even that fit, but I know a bit about exercise and the proper clothing. This guy has a baseball cap on sideways, jean shorts about shin height(looked kind of like a skirt if you asked me) and skate shoes that were not properly tied. So he starts to run and all I can hear in my left ear is clomp, clomp, clomp, clomp!! Seriously dude...he ran for about 3.5 minutes got off and went to get a drink of water. Yes now I can get in my zone...wrong he comes back and it starts again. Well I have to laugh because the show off turned his ankle and almost fell of the treadmill. I am not one to laugh at injury but that was so deserved.
Well I did 4.80 miles in 90 minutes and actually ran for 21 minutes today with out stopping!! I will be getting up early in the morning before I have to head out to the hospital to do another 90 minutes. That will put me back at my 60 minutes on Tuesday.
Exercise is done against one’s wishes and maintained only because the alternative is worse.

Day 2...not so bad
I got up this morning and was excited to get to the gym. I hope I can keep up the motivation! I hopped on the treadmill today and put the incline to 2 and my speed at 3.5. I walked for 20 minutes and decided I would run, I can do 12 minutes today heck I did 10 yesterday whats 2 more minutes. I started to run and 3 minutes into it I thought" Oh Man!!! Cramp in my side already, 12 minutes is so far away" I turned up the music and went to the next song. The Rocky Theme song...yes I can do this!! I ran 10 minutes and I was doing great, 2 more minutes no problem. I wanted to go more...I did a full 20 minutes! What and accomplishment, but I still had to walk 10 more. I lowered the speed and increased the incline to 7. I was doing great, but huffing and puffing like I had asthma and the 40 year old guy beside me was running like a champ. Haha pretty embarrassing, but hey I have to start somewhere maybe I can out run him soon.
Well Ian got to come home for the weekend, so this is a short blog but look forward to another tomorrow evening. I will leave you with a funny quote!
Of course I'm in shape . Isn't Round a Shape? :-)

Is this supposed to be fun???
I guess a person should be motivated for their first day at the gym, but when the alarm went off at 7:30am I said out loud "Is this supposed to be fun?" What was I thinking? Why would anyone want to get up to an alarm on their day off? I hit the snooze button, but my damn cat thought it would be fun to lick my arm and meow in my ear until the alarm went off again. So much for that extra 10 minutes of sleep I wanted to get.
I rolled out of bed and started out with a healthy breakfast. I even counted out a serving of frosted mini wheats and measured the milk. A serving size is 24 biscuits(damn biscuits and gravy sound good so good right now) that is not a lot of cereal! 1/2 cup of milk to cover them, are you serious? Thank goodness for the frosted part, because otherwise I would think I was eating cardboard. I saw an article on yahoo yesterday that bananas were the best diet food, so I sliced one up and put it in the cereal! That should help hide the corrugated fiber taste! I added a carbmaster yogurt(thanks Kroger)and ate my breakfast while browsing Facebook.
We all know how Facebook turns us into procrastinators, well low and behold I look up and its 8:30 am. I am supposed to meet my new trainee today at 11 and I still have a million things to do. Hmmmm maybe a good excuse to skip the gym??? No no don't do it, I can't stand to hear the scale screech like it did this morning. I am honestly surprised my neighbors(who I have only seen 3 times in 2 years) did not call the cops when the scale screamed bloody murder after I stepped on it! :-)
So I put my dishes in the sink grabbed my keys and headed for the gym. My goal was to do 90 minutes on the treadmill today at an incline of 2, but since Facebook obviously distracted me I was only able to do 60 min. I figured 8:30 am that the gym would not be that crowded since mostly students lived in our complex, but I was wrong. I walk in and there are 3 college age men lifting weights, and arguing about the best way to lift weights. I get on the treadmill and start my 60 minutes.
60 min is a long time for your first day at the gym, but back in August I had exercised almost everyday until October, then blamed all the holidays or used them as excuses to stop working out. So I guess I thought I would still be in somewhat ok shape. I start the treadmill and open my Kindle to start reading. These 3 college boys are still arguing about the proper way to lift weights, maybe they should not be lifting them if they think they are wrong!! Seriously guys shut the heck up...I am trying to exercise here! They finally leave and I realized 20 minutes of walking had passed and I had read 3 chapters in my book. Wow this exercising thing is not so bad, I can do this. I decided to do a slow 10 minute jog, I did the first 3 minutes and thought I was going to kill over, but I was not going to give up. I jogged for 10 whole minutes without stopping(of course a grandparent probably could pass me walking) but hey I did it. That is a big accomplishment!! I did 60 minutes and walked/jogged 3.5 miles, not to shabby! Let's see what tomorrow has in store...maybe I can jog 12 minutes without stopping!
Exercise... the poor person's plastic surgery!
